Elkie Brooks has been in the music business for an incredible five decades and is still proving to be one of the most popular live performers!

She began singing professionally in 1960, and her first hit in 1964 was a version of Etta James’ Something’s Got a Hold on Me.

By the end of the sixties, Elkie Brooks had channeled her inner rock chick and co-fronted the band Vinegar Joe alongside Robert Palmer. After the band’s dissolution in 1974, and after a brief stint with the band Wet Willie, she decided to embark on a solo career.

Her 1977 album Two Days Away featured her signature hit Pearl’s A Singer. The song was a hit in the charts and became a timeless classic, and more came to follow!

Her hits followed including Fool If You Think It’s Over, Lilac Wine, Sunshine After The Rain, Warm And Tender Love, Don’t Cry Out Loud, and her highest charting No More The Fool
