Marmalade first came to the attention of the record-buying public in 1968. They had their first two releases in May and October of that year; both of which did well in the charts. However, it was a cheeky cover of The Beatles Ob La Di La Da that eventually got them their number 1 slot.
It stayed in the top position for three weeks in December of that year. (If you’re familiar with the Ob La Di song, the chances are now we’ve put it into your head it’s likely to stay there all day…sorry!)
The band, originally from Scotland, had an excellent reputation for being down to earth and extremely commercial. They proved that without a doubt, due to the millions of record sales throughout their career. Marmalade gained their popularity with their harmonious voices and thrilling performances. They have been delighting audiences of all ages since the 1960s.
Their current date sheet is a testament to the fact that this band are working hard and still very much in demand. In one testimonial a very satisfied fan has said that the band ‘bounded on the stage and had the audience in the palm of their hands’! That describes the perfect type of entertainment to be offering your guests, wouldn’t you say?
The talented musicians that make up today’s Marmalade are still a very popular live band. Marmalade are firm favourites with holiday parks and hotels, theatres and festivals. As you would imagine they are an essential booking for 60s and 70s themed events.
Today see’s the band performing gigs throughout the UK including Somerset, Whitby and Skegness, and European bookings for Germany and Holland.
