For a brief period during the early eighties Kajagoogoo were one of the biggest British Pop Groups of the day, vying with such musical contemporaries as Duran Duran, Culture Club and Spandau Ballet.
After only eight months, three Top Ten Hits (including the worldwide No. 1 ‘Too Shy’ and a million-selling album, lead singer Limahl and the rest of the band went their separate ways…
The band released ‘Too Shy’ in January 1983 and had huge success, going in at number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and top five on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Following their hugely successful break out the band spent a total of 47 weeks in the UK Singles Chart with various hits including ‘Ooh To Be Ah’, ‘Hang on Now’, ‘Big Apple’, ‘The Lion’s Mouth’, and ‘Turn Your Back On Me’.
The band had 2 top 40 albums with ‘White Feathers’ and ‘Islands’, the first of which peaked at number 5 in the UK Album Charts and stayed in the charts for 20 weeks.
Limahl’s charming persona and rebellious attitude continue to see him and his group grow their fan base worldwide.
Limahl continued to enjoy chart success as a solo artist, more notably with ‘Never-ending Story’ from the Smash Hit Film of the same name, which reached Number One in seventeen countries including Top Ten in the U.S.
These days Limahl can usually be found working hard behind the scenes at his Recording Studio in Shepherds Bush composing, producing and remixing with some of today’s new contemporaries including Tony Di Bart, Livin’ Joy, Kim Wilde, and Peter Andrea amongst others.
However, Limahl has finally decided to do the right thing and return to the spotlight to perform with a full band for the first time in ten years…
