Aston Merrygold’s blend of kindness, charisma, and talent makes him a perfect fit for any event.
Since childhood, Aston Merrygold had dreams of a professional football career, yet a nerve issue in his foot led him to explore singing and acting instead. His journey took an unexpected turn when he appeared as Michael Jackson on ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ in 2002, securing second place. Transitioning to entertainment, he joined Pop Star Studios in his hometown before pursuing his music career. He also featured in the ITV Children’s Programme, ‘Fun Song Factory’ alongside Laura Hamilton.
In 2008, Aston’s friend Marvin Humes urged him to audition for UFO, a band formed by Oritse Williams. Together with JB Gill, they evolved into JLS and made waves on the fifth season of ‘The X Factor’, ultimately finishing as runners-up to Alexandra Burke.
Post-X Factor, JLS signed through Epic Records, releasing four studio albums and achieving five number-one hits and four top-ten singles, amassing over 10 million records sold worldwide.
Their film, ‘Eyes Wide Open’, broke box office records. After disbanding in 2013, Aston embarked on a solo journey, drawing inspiration from icons like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Will Smith. Signing with Warner Bros Records, he released his debut solo album, Showstopper, featuring a lead single later featured in a Samsung Galaxy S9 advert. He then released new music in 2017 when he announced his EP ‘Precious’, followed by several singles.
He was Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month and graced NBC’s ‘Today Show’. His TV appearances expanded, including becoming a judge on Sky 1’s ‘Got To Dance’. He competed in the fifteenth season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, reaching the seventh week.
During his JLS days, Aston co-founded The JLS Foundation, supporting six charities including Cancer Research UK, Rays of Sunshine, and Childline. He serves as an ambassador for BeatBullying.
