Claire Sweeney was born to entertain. Since singing in clubs at age 14, she has gone on to enjoy great success on TV and in a string of West End Musicals.
Her frequent appearances on TV (Brookside, Benidorm, Scarborough, Challenge of a Lifetime, 60 Minute Make Over, Loose Women) define her in many people’s eyes as an actress and presenter, but she is first and foremost a singer. Her voice and stage presence are made for musicals. Claire has appeared in West End Shows and Musical Theatre, including Guys And Dolls, Chicago, Tell Me On A Sunday, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
An Audience With Claire Sweeney sees her performing medleys of songs from Chicago, Evita, and Sunset Boulevard (As If We Never Said Goodbye), as well as songs made famous by Judy Garland (Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries, Somewhere Over The Rainbow and The Trolley Song) while harking back to her forces connection with a rousing version of Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again and getting everyone on their feet for Lulu’s “Shout”!
A radiant smile rarely leaves her face. Down to earth, earthy and the possessor of a powerful pair of lungs. Embracing rather than aloof, Claire is very much at home when talking about the body sculpting impact of Spanx underwear on middle-aged women! Her comic timing is perfection!
It all makes for a rather fruity cocktail and a fun evening as Sweeney, often self-deprecating, recalls her time working six months at a time on cruise ships, being among the first participants of both Celebrity Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing, and enjoying a kiss (or two) with Patrick Swayze in Guy and Dolls. Episodes of her life so far are all delivered with humour and her infectious Liverpudlian accent. You cannot help but like her.
• Won the 2001 Rear of the Year award in the UK.
• Was 6 months pregnant with her son Jaxon when she completed her run of the stage play “Sex and the Suburbs”.
• Returned to work 3 months after giving birth to her son Jaxon to perform in the pantomime “Aladdin”.
• Has been labelled “A Mini-Cilla”.
• Headlined Friday Night is Music Night for Radio 2 with the BBC Concert Orchestra
• Starring in BBC1’s “Scarborough” alongside Jason Manford and Stephanie Cole.

“A big THANK YOU for Claire Sweeney on Saturday. She absolutely stormed it! Feedback has been amazing, I was told they couldn’t get her off the stage, think she did nearly 2 hours with standing ovations from the audience. Please pass on our thanks.”

Just a quick one to say how amazing everything went at our function thanks to Big Foot Events! From the very beginning they were extremely helpful and made sure everything was looked after without giving me too much hassle either! The Photo Booth, Candy Floss Cart and Popcorn Cart were all fantastic and a great hit with all of our family and friends and the staff running them were absolutely amazing! They were all set up and ready to go well before the event started and made sure they were always helpful! So a massive thank you to you all!

I just wanted to say a big thank you for being a part of our snapdragon festival this year. Once again Rex was a massive hit and the children and adults loved him. The two members of staff that came to the event were very professional and catered to any requests we had.

We absolutely love having Noughty 90’s here, such lovely people and amazing sets! They had everyone up and dancing on the dance floor.

It was absolutely incredible, I cannot thank you guys enough for how amazing it all was. The Ranger and Rex were outstanding, every single guest loved them to pieces and we certainly had the wow factor for our wedding. Just the idea of having a dinosaur is one thing, but the way Rex, Trixxie and the Ranger worked tirelessly to entertain the entire wedding party just added to the overall effect. We've had non-stop comments from those who attended saying it was pure magic, videos of the experience have gone viral and we even had guests from the hotel desperate to catch a glimpse of Rex. I cannot overstate how incredible you all have been, from the day a weirdo messaged Lauren asking for a dinosaur at their wedding, to speaking with Jade to coordinate everything and then finally meeting Rex and the Ranger on the big day. Everything worked out a million times better than I ever thought possible, and my dad was very pleased to see Rex was appropriately dressed with his bow tie. Amazing, amazing, amazing, thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.

Both acts went down a storm at the weekend. Really pleased with everything! Madonna did all the hits and even included some iconic costume changes! She had the audience up Voguing at the front! ABBA Fever had the crowd on their feet from the start and would be a worthy headliner in the future.
Barry Herridge – Ely Beet Sports & Social Club
