Tracey Shield started singing at the age of 10 years old in the Coventry Youth Operete Group (YOG) and continued performing with them until she was 22 years old. During this time, she performed the lead roles on over 22 shows including'Annie', 'Oklahoma', 'The Will Rogers Follies', 'Pippen' and 'Barnum'.
In addition, Tracey was the lead vocalist in various top UK showbands, namely 'The Poptarts', 'Car Wash' and 'Blame It On The Boogie', performing 70's disco / funk.
In September 1995 she became a Butlins Show Red performing several half hour shows during the day and a two hour spot in the evening and at various holiday centres throughout the UK. Whilst at Butlins, Tracey was lucky enough to appear at the London Palladium in 'The Billy Butlins Story' alongside Alvin Stardust and directed by Dougie Squires, performing the lead female role of 'Lady Sheila Butlin'
Tracey appeared on the Sky TV's children's' show 'Boiled Egg & Soldiers'. The Disney Channel also filmed her performing a solo song from 'The Billy Butlin Story'.
In October 1996, Tracey left Butlins and flew to Benidorm, Spain where she took part in a production show, performing six shows per week including 'West End And Beyond' - a show dedicated to the West End and Broadway Shows. She also performed in a 50's and 60's Rock 'n' Roll show and an 'Old Time Music Hall' show, where her party piece was a tribute to Gracie Fields.
In April 1997 Tracey returned to Butlins to take part in once weekly production show called 'Showstoppers'.
In addition, Tracey joined a touring show performing songs from Celine Dion, Babara Streisand, Cyndi Lauper, Spice Girls, Dolly Parton and Abba, amongst others. This show took Tracey all over the country and she stayed with this show for 2 years.
In April 1999, Tracey entered Granada TV's 'Stars In Their Eyes' as Celine Dion and in August was informed that she had been fortunate enough to be selected for the show. Out of 10,000 people who applied for the show only 5 were chosen - Tracey was one of them! She then went on to win her heat!
