The Brief
Over two weeks in July 2025, we transformed Livingston Designer Outlet in Scotland into a prehistoric paradise!
Families, children and even adults got stuck in with Ranger Training, unforgettable encounters with our roaming Dinosaurs, and a Themed Trail around the complex.
Our client wanted to create a spectacular Dinosaur event to attract families at the beginning of the summer holidays. They wanted to drive footfall to the centre and wow visitors with something truly memorable!
The Challenge
Delivering this dinosaur experience came with its challenges.
To create a fully immersive prehistoric world, we needed to use our client’s budget to cover Prop Scenes, a Themed Trail, Walkabout Dinosaurs and travel to Scotland.
We needed to ensure that our roaming Dinosaurs visited every part of the complex to maximise impact and drive footfall throughout the centre.
Tight schedules on the day meant entertaining large crowds within short set times, requiring precision planning and teamwork.
With multiple elements running across a large shopping destination, careful coordination between our dinosaur and installation teams was essential.
The Solution
To overcome these challenges, we implemented strategic route planning, dividing the venue into quarters so each dinosaur set covered a section at a time. This ensured that, across the day, every part of the centre experienced the full Jurassic spectacle. Close timings were maintained throughout to keep the day running smoothly. The team remained strict with the schedule to deliver all elements seamlessly.
Every ticketed Ranger Training customer also had their special photo opportunity with the Baby Dinosaurs, creating magical memories for families to take home. Behind the scenes, our dinosaur and installation teams worked with precision and dedication to manage logistics, ensuring a spectacular experience for all.

The Result
From the 7th to the 20th of July, visitors to Livingston Designer Outlet were invited to roar and explore!
Over two weeks, we created a Dinosaur experience that truly wowed guests. It featured six different prop scenes filled with prehistoric giants and surrounded by lush jungle plants, foliage, trees and fencing.
Families also met our incredible roaming Dinosaurs. A Spinosaurus appeared in the first week, followed by a Pachycephalosaurus, Velociraptor and T-Rex in the second week. They could also encounter our adorable Baby Dinosaurs. Children participated in Ranger Training sessions and learnt how to become official Dinosaur Rangers themselves.
The event attracted huge crowds each day, with many families returning multiple times to join the fun and see the different roaming Dinosaurs.
Adults and children alike got involved, with everyone eager to snap a selfie or roar with a Raptor!
Livingston Designer Outlet set out to create an event that would drive footfall and delight families and, together, we made it ROAR into life.

What This Project Demonstrates
Roar and Explore at Livingston Designer Outlet demonstrates Big Foot Events’ ability to deliver large-scale dinosaur events and family entertainment programmes for shopping centres and retail destinations in Scotland.
This wasn’t simply a one-day appearance. Our dinosaur and installation teams travelled to Livingston in West Lothian to help deliver a two-week programme combining six prehistoric prop scenes, a Themed Trail, Ranger Training, Baby Dinosaurs and a changing line-up of giant roaming Dinosaurs.
The event also demonstrates how we can work within a client’s budget to create a much bigger experience, carefully combining different elements and planning routes and schedules to spread entertainment throughout a shopping centre and help drive footfall across the whole complex.
