This stellar group of five specialises in turning old songs new, and giving new songs a unique twist from the past. The New Retros never fail to impress; movie director Paolo Sorrentino (La Grande Belleza) found the band by chance online and knew they’d be perfect for his new film. Thus, the band got their big debut in the movie Youth.
These highly experienced musicians bring their talents together to bring you a huge set list of rock, pop, indie and soul from the 50s and 60s, right through to current chart hits! Using their experience from the Manchester jazz and blues scene, The New Retros know exactly how to entertain a crowd. Their retro wardrobe style only adds to the fun!
Nowhere else will you find this special, seamless combination of new and old. Their sound is incredibly genuine, and the duets from the leads Helen and Paul Bytheway are mesmerising. Regardless of the occasion, be it a wedding, summer festival, live music bar, or even a student event, this “Fab Five” is sure to get everyone on their feet dancing, everything from the Sock Hop to the choreography from the latest hot music video!
Some of their offerings include 50s and 60s tunes like “Blue Suede Shoes” by Elvis Presley and “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and the Comets. Audiences of all ages will enjoy rock hits from the 70s like “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones and “The Joker” by The Steve Miller Band.
The New Retros showcased their exemplary live performance sound as Special Guests of Simply Red, during their 2016 tour of Germany. They’ve put on hundreds of high-energy shows which have entertained their audiences since the band got their start in 2011.
Absolutely brilliant! Everyone was up dancing to every song! A great mix of songs and happy to play the occasional request. Helen led us all in a bit of a dance routine! Lovely people and absolutely delighted that we chose them! The next day, everyone commented on how great they were and what a fab time everyone had had. We recommend them whole heartedly!

The band were fantastic from beginning to end. From the early days of lots of questions, Paul was quick to respond and answer them all! They suggested the best place for them to set up on the night (which was different from where we’d originally decided- and they were right!) and the whole performance was brilliant! Their choice of songs was perfect for the occasion and there were always guests up dancing and a number of people told us they’d loved the band! We couldn’t be happier with our choice! Thank you for helping make our day such a success!! 10 out of 10.
