Strelitzia is a professional string quartet working within 75 miles of Manchester. All musicians are graduates of the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music. Since 2002, the quartet has performed each year for around 40 weddings, functions and events.
As well as performing for weddings and civil partnerships, Strelitzia’s corporate clients include Yamaha, Yorkshire Bank, Ernst & Young and Manchester United. Should any member of the group be unavailable for a booking they will be replaced by a deputy drawn from a select group of exceptional professional musicians. As freelance players, members and deputies of Strelitzia play with world-class orchestras such as the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Catering to a broad range of musical tastes, with music ranging from Baroque/Classical to Pop/Jazz and Bollywood, they are happy to give suggestions for music choices and talk through any queries you may have.
Their dress code is dinner or black suits for the men and all black for the ladies.
Strelitzia is now also available as an Electric String Quartet. This setup would typically suit a larger event of say 130 people or more, gives a more contemporary feel and works particularly well for Bollywood music.
