This Johnny Cash Tribute presents the very best of Johnny Cash, from the early days at Sun Records, through the many years at Columbia Records and on to the now legendary “American Recordings”.
Rick prides himself on performing those classic songs, including Grammy award winning duets with his wife, June Carter, as close as possible to the way they were originally presented, with the utmost respect to the original hits.
Rick McKay has been performing in the music industry for 40 years. After playing in various bands, he landed the role of the young Elvis Presley in the stage musical, Forever Elvis, and later went on to take on the roles of Garth Brooks, The Big Bopper and, most recently, his lifelong hero, Johnny Cash.
Rick is a multi-instrumentalist with a deep passion for rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly, and country music. He has played in many bands playing a variety of instruments, as well as performing solo for many years and sharing the stage with many top class acts including Dale Watson, Linda Gail Lewis, Mike Reid, The Searchers, The Barron Knights, and many more.
His two most treasured memories are having W.S. “Fluke” Holland play drums with CASH Revisited in 2015 and backing the legendary Billie Jo Spears on some UK dates. Most significantly, on the first of those dates he met Jodie, who would later become his wife.
In 2012, Rick was offered the chance to portray Johnny Cash in Marc Robinson’s Hank, Cash & Cline, which led to him expanding the role into a full show.
