From Dressing Rooms to the Boardroom: Erica Crompton Becomes President of The Entertainment Agents’ Association UK

Well, here’s a headline I never thought I’d be typing: “Erica Crompton becomes President of The Entertainment Agents’ Association UK.” But here we are — and I couldn’t be prouder or feel more honoured!

Erica Crompton FEAA Big Foot Events

For those of you who don’t know me (yet!), I’m Erica Crompton, founder and Director of Big Foot Events Ltd — the UK’s friendliest, most passionate, and possibly the biggest dinosaur-loving event entertainment agency. We’re celebrating 20 years of Big Foot magic this year, and as if that milestone wasn’t exciting enough, I’ve just taken the reins as the new President of The Entertainment Agents’ Association UK (TEAA).

And let me tell you — it’s no small feat (no pun intended). TEAA is the largest association of its kind in the world and has long been recognised as one of the industry’s most established and respected trade bodies. We represent some of the most iconic artists in the business — from beloved TV celebrities and theatre royalty to music legends and show-stopping cabaret stars.

So, how did a girl from the North West, who grew up hanging around dressing rooms and TV studios, end up here? Let’s rewind.

The Crompton Legacy

People of a certain vintage (and fine taste) might remember my Dad — the brilliantly funny Colin Crompton — best known for his appearances on ITV’s The Comedians and The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club. He was a proper Northern character, a comedy legend, and a true old-school entertainer. Sadly, he’s no longer with us, but his legacy lives on — not least in my absolute love for the industry.

From a very young age, I was soaking up the backstage buzz of theatres and television studios, fascinated by the lights, the dancers and the comradery. I suppose you could say the entertainment industry is quite literally in my blood — sequins, feathers and all.

From Council Member to President

TEAA UK - The Entertainment Agents Association

I became a TEAA Member in 2005, when I first started Big Foot Events, and joined Council in 2018, and over the past several years I’ve been actively involved in everything from forward planning and events to marketing, digital presence, and even the odd dispute (no names mentioned — I’m far too diplomatic!).

I’ve seen firsthand the passion and commitment that keep our association strong, and I’m proud to be a part of it.  I was encouraged to put myself forward for President and decided the time was right. The world is changing, our industry is changing, and I want to bring a new awareness of TEAA and the incredible benefits of Membership.

So, what do I plan to do during my presidency? Well, I’ve got three big goals in mind:

My Presidential Priorities

1. Raise Awareness of the TEAA and Our Brilliant Members

TEAA Members work to a strict Code of Conduct, ensuring fair and honest trading, and it’s time the world recognised the benefits of booking entertainment through a trusted member. We need to shout louder about what we do! Why we do it! And why working with TEAA members is the best decision anyone can make. Whether it’s a venue manager, a production company, a festival or a soon-to-be-married couple looking for the perfect act — booking through a TEAA member should be their first and only port of call.

2. Future-Proof the TEAA

The world is changing — fast. From TikTok sensations to AI-generated DJs, the entertainment landscape is shifting under our feet. It’s our job to stay relevant, informed, and ahead of the curve. I’ll be championing increased visibility through social media, digital marketing, industry hubs and more — bringing the TEAA up to date while keeping our roots firmly grounded in trust, quality and professionalism.

3. Highlight the Real Benefits of Being a TEAA Member

These days, everyone is busy. There are acts to book, stages to fill, and last-minute travel logistics to sort. But joining TEAA is like taking out a top-tier insurance policy. You don’t always think about it… until you really, really need it. And when you do? We’re there.

Being a member means:

  • You stay compliant with the latest DTI regulations.
  • You have access to expert legal advice.
  • Being a part of the TEAA adds credibility to your business and sends a message out about your commitment to working with integrity.
  • You join a support network on Council filled with wisdom and extensive knowledge, people who understand what you do.
  • You get the backing of a respected, established body in an industry that values trust more than anything.

And perhaps most importantly we’re allies, colleagues – the glue that keeps this fabulous, glittering, slightly chaotic industry going strong.

A Final Word (and a Big Thank You)

Taking on the role of President is a big deal — not just for me personally, but for my business, my team, and all the amazing professionals we work with every day. I want to thank everyone who’s supported me along the way, and especially those on the TEAA Council who have encouraged and welcomed me into this position!

Here’s to the next two years of collaboration, progression and maybe the odd bit of drama — because let’s face it, we are in showbusiness!

Now, let’s get to work.

With sequins, sincerity, and a good northern sense of humour,
Erica Crompton
