On the 20th of May 2023, we were delighted to work with our client to bring Dinosaurs to Barrow-in-Furness! It was fantastic to work with Barrow BID on Dino Day III. We have worked with our client on previous Dino Days. Big Foot Events were thrilled to create an even bigger and better event for 2023.
Our client approached us with the aim of transforming Barrow into a prehistoric adventure for the day. Barrow BID’s Dino Day has grown steadily over the years, and our client wanted 2023’s event to be the biggest one yet. Our client’s main goal was to attract visitors to the local area. They aimed to encourage them to visit and enjoy local shops, retailers, and food and drink establishments. They wanted to provide activities and entertainment for locals to enjoy and to raise the profile of the town. The event needed to be even more thrilling than previous years, improving upon and exceeding the expectations of previous attendees.
It was imperative to our client to support local businesses, increasing footfall and dwell time in the town centre. We needed to build upon the success of previous Dino Days while attracting new and previous visitors.
2023’s Dino Day remained a free event, providing accessibility to a large number of people – locals and those visiting from further afield. Barrow BID invited local buisnesses to get involved in the action with dinosaur themed window displays, themed activities, and more.
To make 2023’s Dino Day event even more thrilling than before, we adapted the package to bring new dinosaurs and activities to Barrow. Each year we have added new entertainment options to keep the event exciting! This encourages previous visitors to attend the event. With new entertainment and dinosaurs on offer, each Dino Day has become even more inviting to brand new visitors!
We worked with Barrow BID to create a thrilling event schedule with individual Dinosaur appearances, Photo Opportunities, and Interactive Activities.
Many local businesses participated in Dino Day. Barrow BID were able to tie in the theme with the local cinema, toy shops, and other small businesses. This helped to encourage sales and footfall for the local businesses and turn the town into a real prehistoric experience! Got It Covered hosted a sale of dinosaur-related items and Crafty Hobbies Barrow in Furness sold dinosaur-themed craft projects. Cumbria Sewing & Craft Centre styled a themed window display with dinosaur quilts, toys, clothing, and more. Lakesloos and Event Support held a dinosaur selfie competition in their ‘prehistoric portaloo’, Expressions Barrow paraded their inflatable dinosaur costume, and Holiday Inn Barrow-in-Furness & South Lakes had activity packs available for guests.
Our dinosaur activities and appearances took place in two main areas: Town Square and Dalton Road. We placed Photo Opportunities around The Forum. This included our Jurassic World Gyrosphere, stationary Raptor and Allosaurus Props, and a Jurassic Backdrop. Outdoor activities included The Hatchery and Ranger Training. Children were able to encounter adorable dinosaur hatchlings and learn how to care for Dinosaur Eggs at The Hatchery. Aspiring Dinosaur handlers were able to participate in Ranger Training basecamp. Children loved to learn about Dinosaurs and how to become a real Dinosaur Ranger!
We scheduled Dinosaur appearances throughout the day. Visitors could see our spectacular Brontosaurus, incredible Giant T Rex, cheeky Carnotaurus, mischievous Raptor, and Baby Dinosaurs accompanied by our Dinosaur Rangers. The Dino Day concluded with a spectacular performance involving every dinosaur appearing together for a finale show!
The event was a testament to the ability of Dino Days to create huge interest and generate fantastic footfall figures. Dino Day was heavily attended and Barrow BID received lots of wonderful feedback on their social media pages. We are excited to work with Barrow BID on an event bigger event next year!
‘Thank you for the delivery of Saturday’s event. The Big Foot Team were amazing as always, and the feedback from the event so far has been hugely positive. I would say that the audience numbers this year have far exceeded previous years.’
