We had the honour of arranging Accor Hotels’ annual Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony, to be held in Liverpool at the famous Anfiled Road football ground. The event was to play host to 240 members of the company’s staff from all over the world.
The company chose the fabulous Swinging Sixties theme for their evening event, needing full venue transformation, staging, production, sound, lighting and entertainment.
After a site visit to check the layout and quirks of the room, we put together the ideal 60’s décor, AV and production package.
Using used large Sixties and British iconography as focal points and photo areas, such as oversized peace signs, Flowers and Records. The room was washed with lights in different bright colours, which complemented the lavish table dressing perfectly to complete the colourful Sixties effect.
It was important to the client that the guests would enter to an area where they could take fun photos to remember the event and year’s theme by. To do this, we installed a large Union Jack backdrop and the World-famous Abbey Road Crossing, and added some Sixties Go-Go Girls Hostesses and Sergeant Pepper Beatles Stilt Walkers. The resulting images were a huge hit with everyone who attended!
As Liverpool played a big role in the music scene of the 60’s, the client wanted this to be reflected in the evening, but with a large number of international guests, it still had to be recognisable to people from outside of the UK. With a quick survey of some of the soon-to-be audience members, we learnt that while artists like Cilla Black wouldn’t fit that bill, we could rely on the ever-iconic Beatles to keep everyone happy. We chose our first-class Beatle Tribute band, The Cheatles, as well as our corporate DJ and his 60’s playlist, to keep the dancefloor full on the night!
A large portion of this event was the annual awards being presented to the staff for their year’s work. For this, we brought in a staging area that would suit both the ceremony and the live band later one, with a professional sound system, monitors & mixing desks, screen and video projection, stage lighting and a last minute autocue! With our professional sound, video and lighting engineers on hand, the whole thing ran perfectly! To make sure the whole night was documented, we also provided our event photographer and videographer, who also stayed on site for the workshop the following day. They provided branded images of the whole event, and a brilliant memento video for the company to use and share with staff members who weren’t able to be there on the day.
“Big thanks to you and the team – The event went brilliantly!
The production crew were fantastic – James and the AV team were so helpful throughout the whole event and made our life so easy!
Theming – the room looked great and the theme worked perfectly. My team were little dubious on set up day at the colour scheme of the table and chairs but I knew it was going to work, and they all agreed when they saw the final look! We have had fantastic feedback from everyone.
The actors/stilt walkers and hostesses worked well next to the Union Jack (great pics!) and the band and DJ were great too. Great atmosphere, and the DJ played some really good music. The quality of the tribute band was really good.
As mentioned the crew ran things really well for me and really were great support and very helpful throughout.
Please pass my thanks on to all the team – great working with everyone on this and for helping us make this our most successful event so far!”
