We were delighted to bring our Dinosaurs back to Barrow-in-Furness for the fourth Dino Day collaboration with Barrow BID on May 18th 2024. Having worked with our client on three previous Dino Days, this year’s event was set to be our most impressive yet.
Our client approached us with the aim of creating a prehistoric adventure for residents and visitors in Barrow town centre. Dino Day is a signature event in Barrow BID’s event calendar. The goal for 2024 was to surpass the success of previous years. The primary goal was to drive traffic into the town centre, increase spend in local businesses, and appeal to both local families and visitors from further afield. By increasing footfall, visitors could explore and support local businesses including retail, food, and drink establishments. The Dino Day aimed to provide exciting entertainment and encouraging new and previous attendees to visit. We were thrilled to help Barrow BID create another exciting family day out!
Our main challenge was to build upon the successes of previous Dino Days while introducing new elements to keep the event fresh and engaging. We needed to enhance our package while working within our client’s budget. The event needed to cater to all ages, requiring varied and exciting entertainment to appeal to all visitors.
Additionally, it was important to make a positive impact upon local businesses. We needed to consider how to increase footfall and dwell time throughout the town centre.
Each year, we have enhanced Dino Day with new activities. Our 2023 event featured Dinosaur appearances throughout the day, including our Brontosaurus, Giant T Rex, Carnotaurus, and Baby Dinosaurs accompanied by our Dinosaur Rangers. Read about our 2023 Dino Day here.
To make the 2024 event even more special, we brought new dinosaurs and activities to the Dino Day. We introduced our latest addition to the herd, our Dilophosaurus Dinosaur, Dolly.
We strategically hosted multiple performance arenas and provided roaming performances to ensure we covered as much of the town centre as possible, drawing visitors to different locations. Additionally, Barrow BID actively encouraged local businesses to get involved in the prehistoric festivities.
This was the busiest Barrow Dino Day yet! Footfall increased significantly, filling the town centre with excited and happy visitors and residents.
We collaborated with Barrow BID to create a schedule brimming with thrilling activities and performances! Including: Arena Shows, Walkabout performances, Baby Dinosaur meet-and-greets, Photo Opportunities, and Interactive Activities such as Dr Bones’ Hatchery and Ranger Training.
Performances were spread across multiple locations, leading visitors to explore different areas of the town centre. Local businesses actively joined in the fun! For example, staff from Expressions Barrow roamed about wearing an inflatable dinosaur costume and organised a drawing sheet competition to win Dinosaur goodies!
Our client received fantastic feedback and numerous interactions on social media. This indicated the success of the event and its positive impact on the community.
‘The team at Big Foot once again delivered a show-stopping performance at Dino Day in Barrow in Furness which saw thousands of people visit the town centre. The entire process from start to finish was seamless. As event organisers we received hundreds of positive comments from families attending the event who travelled from across the country to see the dinosaurs in action. All of the team were extremely professional, engaging with the public, with nothing being too much trouble. We are really looking forward to working with the team again in the future!’
