Jimmy James is a soul music superstar. He’s been composing and singing incredible soul tracks since he was 16 years old. In 1964 he was in invited to join The Vagabonds, one of Jamaica’s leading bands, as their lead singer.
Over half a decade later his voice is as powerful as ever, and his stage presence is legendary!
Jimmy James is no stranger to playing to sold-out venues. His boundless energy, enthusiasm, and authenticity guarantee him a continued collection of fans. He was the first-ever live performer on BBC’s Top of the Pops!
Jimmy James provides a whole world of musical experience. He has enough soul music history to fill an encyclopaedia with a vast back catalogue of hits.
He is still touring the cabaret circuit and often performs with other classic soul music masters, Clem Curtis, The Drifters, and The Four Tops. He is a firm favourite on the live music scene and is in huge demand as a headline act on luxury cruise liners!
During the 60s and 70s, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds performed as regular headliners in UK venues, and at The Marquee in London during the early 1960s. Due to spending so much time away from their home in Jamaica they eventually moved permanently to the UK. Here they continued to write and perform hits that are still hugely familiar today.
Jimmy James has a spectacular musical history and has worked with many of the incredibly talented musicians of our time: Percy Sledge, Rose Royce, The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bobby Womack, and the list goes on!
His hits ‘I Go Where The Music Take Me’ and ‘Now Is The Time’ are still motivating audiences to pull their best disco diva moves, and dance around their handbags.
